Summertime
In the eighties
Meant running through the sprinkler
Burning your soles on the hot asphalt
On the way to the deli
Past the school oval
And the medical centre
And spending our pocket money
On paper bags of mixed lollies
We clutched those one and two cent coins
So tightly, they might have been sapphires
In summertime
In the eighties
