Bess and the Highwayman

You sang to me
Under a full moon
That painted you silver
Against the starlight
And your beauty
So strange and striking
Caught me once and
For all the King's men who
Captured your fine head
I wilted before my own
Sharp and sure blade
In death's embrace
I found you again
Enchanted by my dark eyes
And together we ride
Ringing death knells
Over these lonely roads
